From childhood stories, diaries, life journals, letters, prayer journals, and devotionals to blogging, this has been an unexpected and meaningful journey. As you may be aware, I am never short on words, very verbal, talkative, and until recently always active and on the go physically. Just a few incidents have slowed me down; more on that another time. Writing has provided a way to express myself privately, without limits, and to engage in ongoing dialogue with God regardless of how active I was at the time. It started when, as a young girl, I locked away the new experiences, secret crushes, broken hearts, anger, difficult times, changes, and more in my five-year diary. Still have that little book along with boxes of others through the years. Some entries are easier to read than others, as my handwriting was, and is, a challenge to decipher, as I write like I’m moving through life at full throttle! But for the most part, I can read my writings or at least get the general idea.

Reading through pages from long ago brings back a flood of memories, some of which make me laugh out loud or pause for a moment to thank God for answered prayers and his tenderness through difficult seasons; others provide a moment of quiet reflection, along with the need for a nearby tissue. The notes, letters, and comments from Ken seem to have a life of their own; even though he is no longer here, his words are a blessing and an encouragement to me. I have found that, at times, picking up a journal, prayer journal, Bible, or book from years past with notes written in them reveals the value and importance of each season of my life. Not all of it was sunshine and lollipops, nor storms and destruction, but through it all I can see the tapestry of my life carefully and intentionally woven, repaired, and still a work in progress. I can also see and read the many ways God has been with me and others, guiding, protecting, and loving me through the pages of my journals and my life.
Sharing my journey with you is a privilege. With so many thoughts, experiences, and stories to share, I often find myself wondering what to write next. Often, God guides and directs my thoughts and inspires me through his word, others, and his creation. And on days like today, I look at the boxes on my shelf that are filled with notes and journals, and the words jump from my mind onto the page, and I find myself sharing my Journals to Blogs post with you.

With no end plan in mind, I just keep writing, and now, with over 65 posts, it’s time to create a place to put them all. For now, that is my newly posted page, “Blog Library” which is nested under the Blog page. May I ask you to take a look at the page and search for a topic or scan the posts? Let me know what you think, if it’s easy to navigate, or any other comments or suggestions would be most welcome. Thank you!
The most important part of any of my days is my time with God. From reading his word, following sermons and Christ-followers, to praying and having continual conversations with him, I know that he is with me and guiding me. This verse came to me as I completed my blog today. The praise song from Maranatha in the 1970s is ringing in my ears.
He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you.
But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8 (NKJV)
“He Has Shown Thee” Maranatha Praise

Pati,
It’s sad to hear that life without your husband is challenging, but Our Lord leads us in the direction where we make a huge difference in the lives of others and you are certainly an instrument of His to help others understand that our lives can change in an instant, but He has a purpose for all of us. May your journal entries be a beacon of light to help others, including myself. We continue to look forward to the journey that He wants us to take and to be grateful for it. May you continue being the inspiration we look forward to always.
THANK YOU for sharing.
Gil
