A Living Present from Ken…

Ken’s life ended so much sooner than we thought it would but even beyond his earthly presence he has continued to bless me with a very special present….

A few weeks before he went to be with Jesus he told the grandchildren who were sitting in his room; “Grandma needs God after I die”… grandchild walks in to where I am sitting and asks “Don’t you have Jesus in your heart?” I answer “ Yes I do”, “Then why is Papa telling me you need God?”… Another grandchild interjects “Papa gets his words mixed up, he means dog, he wants Gramma to get a dog”!

Today I turned 65 not that I want to shout it from the highest hill but I want to thank God for blessing me and reminding me that my days are numbered for his purpose and glory and not my own. And that he will meet all of my needs according to what he has purposed in my life. I sure missed Ken today but the living present/dog he encouraged me to get is certainly keeping me occupied!

A few months ago I began researching a mixed breed suitable for apartment living, low maintenance, no shedding, small enough to take walks with but not too big to get pulled along, a good temperament for future therapy options to visit shut ins … and must be good with children. The local shelters had lots of big dogs, so I expanded my search and shared with some friends. I was introduced to a Godly woman who is also a Christian author who lovingly breeds just a few litters a year. I put myself on a very long list for a future pup in 2022.

God had other plans as a pup became available sooner that was not yet spoken for and I literally fell in love with this precious bundle when I met him. He is a Bichon, Shitzu, poodle mix that will be 12-15 lbs when grown. Two weeks later I went to pick him up and life has certainly changed for me in many ways!

After I got him I realized I forgot to ask about his birthdate….. and soon discovered it is Kens birthday! Isn’t that amazing, special and so like our loving Father to bless me in little and big ways?

Thank you my sweet Ken for encouraging me to bring a dog into my life and thank you God for coordinating all the details at just the right time!

Welcome Gideon AKA “Kippy” into my home and heart. I pray that God will prepare us both to encourage and provide comfort to others… in the meantime I am enjoying the cuddles and love from my very special Christmas present.

May God fill your heart and home with his presence and encourage you. Thank you for sharing a moment of your day with me.

“God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:19

What day was yours? Also if you do a shut in ministry I would love to participate a bit!! I used to visit nursing homes for those who had no one. I love you and your heart.
